It comes as no surprise that Anthony Johnson shares the same birthday as the late, great Ballet Master and the father of American Ballet, George Balanchine. Throughout his illustrious career, Johnson, founder, co-director and choreographer of Ballet Magique has worked with The Backstreet Boys, Divine Arista records 25th Anniversary and had the opportunity to choreograph his solo as the the lead Katakali Indian on the Paul McCartney Tour. Johnson ‘s choreography career began at at early age and developed at The University of South Florida. has choreographed for the Black Ensemble Theatre in Chicago, which landed him a nomination at the Black Theatre Alliance Awards. Mr. Johnson also received a 2004 Lester Horton Award nomination for “Outstanding Achievement in Choreography” for Ballet Magique’s “Ring of the Rose as well Ballet Magique received Outstanding Achievements in Costume and Lighting Design.” Anthony has choreographed for Magician’s Simon Winthrop ,David Shimshi , The Larramore’s, and The World Magic Awards. In 2005 Johnson worked with 80’s pop star Paul Lekakis.

Anthony W. Johnson is an exceptional teacher and coach. 100 percent of his students have become adults have become professionals in both dance and acting, with either a contract with a major dance company or on on television or on tour with a recording artist. His personal private students have been accepted or received to scholarships to American Ballet Theatre, School of American Ballet, The San Francisco Ballet School, The Houston Ballet, Boston Ballet School, Alvin Ailey and The Rock School of the Pennsylvania Ballet. They have also gone to soloist contracts with Hamburg Ballet, Columbia City Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, and Alvin Ailey Dance Theatre, Ballet de Printemps, Cirque Du Soliel, and on Broadway in “Mama Mia”, Movin’ Out,” The Lion King” and in Germany’s production of “Cats”. Some are on tour with Janet Jackson, Britney Spears or in movies like Step UP or Across the Universe.
Mr. Johnson is on the Dance Faculty of the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts and teaches also at Millennium Dance Complex and Alhambra High.
